Best Router that lets you limit applications and give a application you using at the moment bandwidt

I am looking for a router with a 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload connection that can limit application download speeds when other more important things are using the internet. Plus give applications that are in use at the moment or right now the most bandwidth.

If this is even possible.

Inbound QoS doesn't work according to many experts. Once the traffic leaves ISP, there is nothing you can do.

If you want to try Netgear Dynamic QoS, make sure you can return it if it dosn't work.

Or use NetLimiter or alike apps suggested by JackMDS on each machine.

There is no way to control traffic outside of your house, once idm open them pipes, the server end sends all idm requests. Thus idm is the logical location to throttle traffic.

Err yes you are. Once packets leave source, there is nothing you can do on your end other than block them. What do you think is saturating your downstream pipe?

Yes Sophos home UTM 9 has the ability to apply QoS on applications. You can set it as a % of your connection or raw bandwidth.

I found a way to have IDM traffic to go down when streaming on my AC5300. So ha.
