Ok...the list has grown substantially but is looking more like I wanted it to in the beginning. I am getting everyone's favorites onto the list as fast as I can, people are ripping my head off because I don't have their band listed. If your band isn't listed don't vote for another, I will add it.

Be sure to stick between 1970-1979 (yeah I know 1 band on there started in 1963 and the other in 1980 but they already had votes so I left them on. And, I am not doing a 1960-1969 poll anyway so good thing the Beatles made it on this one before I caught that. :D

Wow, when I clicked on the thread I expected Led Zeppelin to be 90+% with a couple of sentimental joke votes thrown to the Beatles. Interesting results.

From that list, I'm going to have to go with Led Zeppelin.

My favorite Pink Floyd song ever came out in the 80's, so that wasn't much of a concern.

(Hi sm800000000.)

I agree but they where not playing between 1970-1980. If you like metal go with Judas Priest for that Era.

Keep in mind the Beatles broke up in 1969/70 so despite being the best band ever, they had already passed by in 1970.

Therefore, Led Zeppelin FTW!

Good point.

It's probably better that they did anyway, before Led Zeppelin came along and blew them off the map. :D

I'm biased though, because I can't stand the Beatles and Led Zeppelin is and always will be my #1 favorite band ever. (Looking up at my framed Houses of the Holy poster in mint condition hanging on the wall as I type this)

I'd love the Beatles, but I'd never consider them to be a rock band.

more of a really amazing and innovative pop band that had a handful of rockin' songs.

Yep...he died in September 1970, so he was in his prime the majority of that year. He almost made it to 1971.

I considered a parody thread for this thread:
"What is your favorite color"
with responses including salty, sweet, sour...

What's up with bands that never played together during the 70's being considered (and voted for) as best rock band of the 70's?

Even though I don't like them, I have to admit "Godzilla" is a pretty cool song. I think I like it because it's got more of a "rock" sound to it that you wouldn't expect from them. That friggin reaper song is the WORST....it's gets stuck in my head and makes me want to go insane. :D

Correct...I addressed that earlier in the thread. When I first made the list I intended it to be the 70's era only but the Beatles were already on the list and had votes so I left them on it. I'm not going to do a 1960-1969 poll anyway so good thing the Beatles got in on this one.
