ok bud if you say so

the only thing holding sandy back is the limited multy they can run,if they were unlocked to 75x you would see 8ghz on ln2 runs

you do know that 1.2 volts on 22nm is the same as jamming 1.45-1.5 volts on 32nm sandy right?

Ill just go ahead and say it,ivy bridge sucks,it runs hot and cant take the same voltage sandy can without needing dry ice vs high end air.

It great for benchers like the one you posted in this op but look what type of cooling he is using and its running at 2 volts!!!

I can bench my 2600k at its max multy and jam 1.650 volts into it and complete a super pi record run or even a record cinbench run but guess what? Im on water cooling 🙂

Please tell me why I should give up my sandy that will smoke anything your ivy can do?

Forum bet . I will put my IVB up against your SB . You name the bench mark after stress testing is complete. any benchmark you name it . Were both on water so put up or shut up . I wager my brand new worlds BEST watercooling system against your old crappy SB. The gaunlet has been thrown down . pick it up. You will need at least 5.4 ghz stable to even be in the running.

Lol bro, IVB is not the big boss you're making it out to be. Unless you're really into IGP, I guess. Try again.

Asus says not to go over 1.35v on there M/Bs . I will tell ya Asus never ever said that 1.55 1.6v on SB with there M/Bs was OK . NOT ever . We have a link here somewhere from newegg were the Asus rep clearly states 1.35 v is the limit . Just as I said 3 months ago . Nothing has changed other than people like you spreading complete BS. I believe AT article has that new egg link.

If you step back and think about it stating on record 1.35v's max is in the best interest of the company. I'd think Asus would be in a world of hurt if they stated 1.55v's was safe for 24/7 use and SB's and IB's started dropping like rocks....In the end it's not what voltage kills your chip it's what voltage kills mine that counts. Just like OCing every chip will have it's limit.

The jury is still out on the absolute max value that can safely be pushed thru SB's. I'm still with the camp that figures absolute max = VID of chip after all if it would kill the chip then there is no way Intel would program the VID that high in the first place. Not like I'd run my chip 24/7 at 1.5v's or so anyways.

I am not making it out to be anything . We have 4 SB setups here. Their great. But this is old stuff now . IVB is a better CPU period . Clock for clock and as for O/Cing give it a month or 2 and well see that o/cing is about the same. but temps are higher. for whatever reason and its not leakage. I had p4 for many years I know leakage . The heat seems to be the only thing that has everyone scratching head . go ahead and start your ivb. o/cing experiance @ 1.30 v. and scream about temps on air cooling . better yet . intel should pull and amd and put the sensors were they do the least good. amd chips run at 18c in a 25c ambient heated room . Thats impressive!

I see know problems with the heat . I only have to look to gpus to see that people are off their rockers. 80c is hot for Intel cpu but its ok for nv and amd gpus. the hottest gpu i have here is the 560ti in this browser as its all air.

can you break 10.25 in cinbench?

lets see som 5.2 ghz linx runs with your hotvy bridge too while your at it

name your bench bro I know my chip wont throttle

ps I broke 10.30 just now in cinbench....you sure you want to do this lol

I don't know . I being pretty careful about what programs i install on that pc. I do know where I am setting at on voltage and clocks . I do not know until saturday if it will go higher but 4.8ghz @ 1.19 is pretty good . the pc i just delivered to a mn viking player is running at exactly that speed and voltage. he is very happy / still have 2 more to build for teammates hopefully more. They all want airbrushing . and that really pushes the price over 10,000. The only change I have made from orginal is the M/B for that and the people I am dealing with I went with Asus z77 sabertooth I had to . The looks in this setup means alot You ever take a 1000watt seasonic and sleeved the wiring to the case . alot of work than lian li could have done better job on inside of case as it cost alot to machine parts to cover worthless holes

WOW. if I use that on my H20 ,,,, temps will be in the single digits.... maybe 3c .....

I want the voltage at 1.4 ,,,,,, what can you OC that thing to ? 6ghz ??? what type of cooling etc,,everything comes into play,
