Hi all, I recently got a MacBook Pro and I need to be able to use remote desktop. Which version, paid or free is the best? Thanks in advance.

I use LogMeIn. It's free, has a free iOS app and works perfectly for me.

I use Splashtop, it's very snappy and can stream video / audio at 30fps+ depending on the connection.

Don't use the Microsoft client, it crashes way too much. I'm using "2X Client RDP / Remote Desktop for OS X" from the app store, it seems to work well and it is free.

I've only ever had the Microsoft client crash when it's quitting anyway, so ... meh ;)

I just use that.

6 respondants, 6 different answers. That's new. I have nothing unique to contribute other than that observation.

To access the Mac, the easiest I've found is LogMeIn, and it works cross platform.

If you just need to access your Mac, from another Mac, the built in Software with Back-To-My-Mac probably works well enough. I haven't used it in a few years though.

I use LogMeIn. It's free, has a free iOS app and works perfectly for me.

Its free now? I paid $30 for that thing like 18 months ago.

I need to access to a PC from my Mac and 2x seems to do a decent job. I'll use that for now. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Don't forget that RDP is built into OSX. /System/Library/CoreServices/Screen Sharing.app
