Best Recurring Comedic Duo in Movies of the Last 50 Years

So these are some of the more notable comedy duos in movies that I can come up with. Each pair has their own comedic chemistry that makes them more funny together then apart, but to me it doesn't get much better than Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. They did it great early in their careers together, then did it even better as time marched on. Farley/Spade may be my favorite, and Wilder/Pryor may have the best chemistry in my opinion, but Matthau and Lemmon are the "best" duo in the last 50 years, hands down.

Other and other. Of the choices listed I'd go with Pryor and Wilder, but you left out some better ones. How about Cheech and Chong? Jay and Silent Bob?

You're right about Cheech and Chong, I'll add them in. But Jay and Silent Bob were purposely omitted as obscenity riddled sentences strung together by only one half of the duo is not comedy in my eyes.

Matthau and Lemmon. You won't get that as the top result here because few of the voters on this board will have seen their movies but they were amazing and hysterical in their day. Plus they both had the capability to play serious roles (Lemmon especially).

Haha I was actually watching that today when the idea of this thread popped into my head, loved that movie but nothing tops them in Silver Streak.

Yeah they popped into my head from their performances in Planes/Trains/Automobiles, but that's the only movie I think they're even in together.. so it's not 'recurring'. Still a great pair though.

"Them" was not in Blazing Saddles. That was Wilder with Cleavon Little.

Ah, but you get into the classics like "The Fortune Cookie" or, better yet, "The Sunshine Boys". Good stuff.

I"ll have to go and see if they have them at the local blockbuster. I may need to sign back up with Netflix to get watch the classics. :)
