Hi there everyone. Now I have bulit my own machine before (the one im using right now) but my one complaint about it was that I think I got either a bad RAM and mobo combo or just bad RAM. I went from a 1.7ghz Dell which was really fast to my current machine (which has the Dell chip) But im running an Asus P4PE and 512mb of some DDR RAM (Samsung maybe). I had 256mb in my Dell box and my Dell was able to multitask so much better (I think it had RDRAM). Anyways I don't want to make a mistake like that again. I am buying this XPC box and I would like to know what the best RAM I can put in there. Its a P4 board with 400/533mhz FSB which Im going to try and take full advantage of and I want to put 512mb of RAM into the box. The mainboard is the FB51 but I am getting a SB51GB and not a SB51G. I dunno if theres a difference in mobos or configurations but the SB51GB is a black case. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me find the right RAM for my system. As for my needs, I am a very big gamer, graphic artist, web surfer, and huge multitasker. Thanks in advance!

Would 1 stick of 512 or 2 sticks of 256 be more effective? I dunno if my mobo works better with 1 stick of 512 or 2 of 256.

Hypothetically, 2 of 256 as more RAM can be accessed faster physically. Realistically, I don t think it would matter.

I found what RAM i have in my current system from my Newegg invoice from a while ago. Its DDRAM 256MB|PC-2700 DDR333 -SAMSUNG. Would this and an ASUS P4Pe be a bad combination or is it just the chips on the RAM? When i first put this system together I tried to figure out for weeks why it didn't run better than my Dell. My PCMark scores were cut by like 1/4 from my Dell.

Well the only advice I could find on this board was flash the P4Pe BIOS and try upgrading the firmware. I did and it runs the same.

You are thinking Dual-Channel DDR...not the same thing. ;)
