i don't know about your Samsung PC2700 hitting 440MHz...PC2700 is guaranteed @ 333MHz. whereas XMS3200 is PC3200, which is guaranteed @ 400MHz (even though JEDEC has yet to make it an official industry standard). so needless to say, you'll have quite a bit less OCing to attempt if you were to start with something guaranteed to work @ 400MHz from the get go. in other words, you have a much better chance of hitting 440MHz w/ the XMS3200 thn you do with the PC2700...good luck either way...i know its a little more expensive to go w/ the XMS3200...

I heard a rumor back the pc2700 sammy chips are ot the same and do not oc as well as the oplder chips did....Has something to do with sammy now selling pc3200 stuff and marketing there good ocing pc2700 as those chips....

What about the new true 400mhz ddr??? Seen any of that yet??

I have corsair and it does 440mhz now, even on a picky POS like the Epox 4BDA...It does 400mhz still at cas2...

That geil crap says pc3500 and 435mhz ddr but I wonder about the compatability with some of the mobos...

it has been rumored that Geil is a reincarnation of OCZ. that's enough for me to steer clear of that stuff. anyways, its probably a netter idea to stick with the reputable brand names when it comes to memory. its one of the components in your system you should never go cheap on.

Corsair XMS is the ONLY ram hitting 440+DDR
Which ones? The regular 3000, 3200 is only $166 right now, so is the 3000c2, but the 3200c2 is $190.

If the regular 3200 or the 3000c2 is hitting 440 I'll take it, I'm not too concerned about the case2 setting at that speed.

Thanx guys, ight well i need some of it to be cheap and i guess ill settle for DDR400 with the sammy mem hopefully. I kinda just want alot of it (1024MB) instead of speed mostly for photoshop. And $130 for sammy PC2700 is not bad at all ;) If it can hit 400Mhz cas2 ill be happy ;)

XMS PC2700 is only about $40 more at 1GB. (2x$130 = $260 for the sammy, 2x$150 = $300 for the XMS PC2700), and of course make sure you get Sammy on Sammy and CTL not DTL. I wonder how long it'll be before we start seeing 1GB sticks of RAM...probably about the time MS releases its next OS, I reckon' ;)

SSXeon5,

I have had some of my Sammy PC2700 sticks hit 440 DDR. This was when I was using it on my epox 4g4a+ mobo with an Intel P4 - 1600 @ 2640 MHz using 165 fsb and the 3:4 memory divider. Performance on it was pretty good, as I was hitting Sandra score of 3400/3400 on it.

However, I did have to bump the voltage to 2.8-2.9 to get it to be stable at that speed, but it was possible....

good luck on your search :)

Anytime, that also includes FedEx 2nd Day for just another $1 ($0.50 each). Btw, you can get XMS PC3000C2 for just another $32! ;)
