Best Ram for the value vs. Best ram?

The set up as it stands now....

AMD 64 90nm 3500+
MSI K8N Neo2 or Epox 939 socket
1-2 Gigs Ram (what should this be?)
3 Hard Drives
2 NEC 3500A Burners
1 Floppy
1 6800 GT
1 RME Hammerfall 96/52
1 Modem

All in an antec sonata with better cooling.

What ram do you reccomend for this? What is the best ram, what is the best value for punch ram?

I've heard Cosair is good, but there are several kinds and I am confussed by all of the choices.

What do you think?

Thanks.

i recommend geil ddr pc4400. honestly, you only need 512 for current games and apps, 1gb is becoming the norm though. get one 512 stick and another when you want more. j imo, corsair is overpriced

I hear 2 512 sticks are better then 1 1GB stick. The mother board I will get will allow up to 4 gigs of ram. What would happen If I got 1 1Gig stick and 2 512 sticks?

Would I get the benifit of the dual channel thing and also the benifit of 2 gigs of memory? Or is it a better Idea to get all 512 sticks?

But then I'm stuck at 2 gigs right?

Jeez... just get 2 sticks of Corsair Value Select. The diferences will be very marginal with the other RAM. If you decide for highend the Crucial Ballistix is hands down best memory out there. 512mb is quickly becoming not enough. I would not reccommend 512mb to a gamer anymore.

You would get dual channel with 1024 512 512... however 2 gig is not worth it yet. Just get 2 512mb sticks of memory. Other wise if you are hell bent on getting 2gb of RAM that 1gb 512 512 is the optimal way IIRC.
