cpu is athlon 3700+ clawhammer, 74gb raptor, 7800gt co, aspire x-qpack with modstream 450 psu

any benefit of going for different ram, maybe jump to 4gb? i am selling off buch of spare hardware so i can afford upgrade, not planning on ocing, even though i migth since all fans are zalman and cd drive is outsite and 2 extra yate loon fans installed

I wouldn't change that RAM... The timings aren't very tight, but there is hardly a difference to note between a CL of 3 and one of 2 in gaming... I'd keep the money...

BTW buying 4GB would have to be double 2 gig sticks... Man you'll be ruined...

Not for gaming. We're getting to the point where ram and cpu don't even make a difference at gaming at all. (With the exception of 1GB vs 2GB, some users experienced hitching in BF2 and had that hitching disappear after upgrading to 2GB.... some never noticed it with 1GB.)

Take FEAR, for example. Even at a low resolution like 1024x768, an FX-57 had the exact same frame rate as Sempron and Celeron.

For better gaming performance, a faster video card (or 2!) will be your best bet.

Anyway, there is not enough adress available with 32 bits OS to fully use the 4 gigs. usually max out at 3.5 gigs.. sometime less depending of the hardware you have in your system
