Best RAM for A8n-SLI premium overclocking (2x1024 kits)?

Trying to decide on RAM for the A8N-SLI Premium. I need 2 gig DC for playing BF2. I want to get the most out of this rig so I will be doing my first overclock (air for now).

I have heard the OCZ doesn't OC as well as the Corsair. The OCZ is less $$. I will buy the Corsair if it oc's better. Or is there is another 2 gig kit I should be considering with overclocking in mind?

This has probably been posted, but I didn't find it by searching and want to get this stuff ordered tonight. Any info on this would be great. :beer:

Seems some people have been using faster sticks of 1024 and still running them dual channel? Could this be the way to go? That is, buying 2 seperate sticks of 1024 instead of a "dual channel" kit and running them dual channel to get the higher FSB speeds?

Stick with the OCZ Platinum 2gb and run a divider. There's also the value crucial 1gb sticks that can overclock well, there was a topic somewhere and it was getting good overclocks. Just stick with the cheaper ones if you don't mind the dividers. And yeah you could get 2 seperate 1gb sticks and run them in dual channel as long as they're the same sticks. Most get the ballistix individually like that....

I'm not trying to steal your post but, I plan on using the A8n-Sli premium but I was wondering whats better for a non Overclocker? the Corsair XMS 2gb(2modules)or the Ocz 2gb(2modules) platinum ram. Can I use the OCZ even though it's not listed on Asus' ddr400 qualified vendor list?

Thanks guys, I'm looking into those options you suggested.

@TheTech, Yes people are using the OCZ platnium on this mobo with no problems. It is less expensive than the XMS and it also has lower timings. Since you are a non overclocker it's a great choice.

@virtualrain

Most of those guys were running DFI's but one has the premuim and yeah he had found the "sweet spot" or something about running it at 2.7v.

I hate to spend to much on ram because it always seems to drop in price the day after I buy it. That stuff looks to haul ass though

That OCZ 2GB PC-4000 Gold is the shizznat right now it seems. I gues thats why it's going for $360.+ I have some twinx1024-4400c25pt laying around so I'll use that for the first day or two. hopefully that price will drop a bit in the next week cause I won't make it two, heh. Thanks again for the link virtualrain:beer:

I vote for TWINX2048-3200C2PT.

That's what I have and I am currently running them at 235mhz at 2.5, 3, 2, 5 and 2.9volts. I've been playing around with different oc settings lately, pushing my system further. So far, this RAM has performed excellent and it passes memtest with flying colors at this speed/latency.

EDIT: btw - at stock speeds, and anything under about 210-215mhz or so, this RAM runs at CAS 2 - despite what it says on Corsair's website that, "..it'll use CAS2.5 on AMD's" or something like that. This RAM is excellent. It's expensive but it is the best overall 2gb set.

The guy with the Premium board that you are talking about is me! It took a while to tweak it out to max, but it was a fairly painless process with the Premium board.
