Best RAM cooling fan?? | OCZ vs Corsair

Guys,

I want to add some RAM cooling fans to my 12GB 1600MHz Dominators. I am trying to decide whether to go with the OCZ or the Corsair version. First question is, I have 6 sticks (12GB). Does the cooler only cover 3? If so, I will get two cooling fans but would they fit side-by-side? The sticks are very close to each other (doh!).

These are the two versions I'm considering:

1.) OCZ: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/cooling_products/ocz_xtc_cooler_rev_2

2.) Corsair: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16835181008

Please let me know which fan is the best and whether I can fit two to cover 6 sticks of RAM.

Thanks.

I've got the Corsair version and it seems to work okay. It is also wide enough to cover all 6 sticks of RAM (I've got six sticks).

Somewhere there is a good comparative review of the GSkill. I'll leave it to you to find. I just bought 2 from 'egg & installed 1 in 1 of my systems & was not a big deal per that review.

There is a couple cm gap between the fan & the ram so it does cool the area as well as the RAM. That review commented something to that regard also. Tomorrow I'l look for that review if you can't find & are interested.

Sweet! I'm glad one of those covers all six sticks! How's the experience with that fan so far? Any disadvantages? What about the OCZ? Have you tried to use that one before?

As far as I can tell, the two fans are fairly quiet; they can't be heard over the other 11 fans in my case 😉. I haven't tried the OCZ version, so I can't comment on it. I can't remember if the fans are plugged into a case fan header on the MB or directly to the PSU using a molex adapter.

The Corsair RAM cooler seems to be well built, but you have to be a bit careful when installing it since it essentially slides over the plastic clips on the DIMM sockets locking the RAM sticks in place. You don't want to break off one of these flimsy plastic clips.

Once it is fitted, it is quite sturdy and shouldn't fall or slide off even when orientated vertically (which it will be in a tower case).

Just got the Corsair CMXAF2 RAM cooler today from Amazon!

w00t!

I'll let you guys know how effective it is once I get to install it this weekend.

80mm fan with rubber bands.. however i recomend u use nice rubber bands or they will wear off and the fan will fall onto your gpu card.
