Best raid setup to go with?

I have a 250 sata and just got a matching one. I have had just one for over a year now but think maybe I would like to do an raid setup. Is it possible now? If so, what is the best raid setup?

I would recomend to buy a third and do a raid five, but that is just me. if you dont want to buy a third, then go raid 0......This is what i believe, wht does everyone else think?

There is no "best" raid setup.

You basically only have 2 choices with the two hard drives you have. Either raid 0 or raid 1.

You can either go for performance or safety.

I went for performance 😉

I could get a third. What option would that give me? Or would it be better just to have the one as a slave and just back up there? I know it won't be as fast but?

After discussions with others about the advantages and disadvantages of the raid array I have come to the conclusion that I will just use two hard drives with no array.
My biggest problem is how I should set it up. I have a hd that is partitioned into 3 partitions.
1-os and apps 31gb
2-docs,vids,etc
3-backup image
I want to now use the second hd as docs and vids etc and maybe even move the backup there. How can I recover the partitions 2 and 3 into partition 1? Will partition magic or some other software do it? How much should it cost?
