Best Quiet PSU

What's the quietest PSU, with a rating of over 350 Watts, and is very quiet. The PSU that came with my 3700BQE just isn't cutting it noise-wise, at least not in my opinion, something with a fan controller would be great! 🙂

newegg What about that?

eehh....

I personally think thermaltake is crap, but I prefer function over form. I'm sure it would be ok, but thermaltake would be on the bottom of my list.

get an antec true 430 sneaky. you wont regret it 😉

haha is this QUIET? I'm a noise freak, when I put my comp in stand-by mode, the cpu cooler is in-audible, and the 120mm exhaust fan is so quiet I don't even know it's on. But my stupid "smart pwoer" 350 makes wierd noises, and sounds like a leaf blower... I don't like going to sleep to a chorus of lawn equipment 😉

its pretty quiet. my GF has one in her sonata that i just made. the loudest thing in her comp is the TT silentboost...

If noise is a big factor then take a better look at the Tagan, its one of the quietest PSs out there, it beat Zalman I believe. Features and build are also a step above the normal Antec's and Enermax's, I've used both.

here are some reviews --> review 1 ----> review 2

I've heard very good things about Tagan as well. I faintly recall seeing a higher rated Tagan going for 200. The Sparkle/FSP power supply is the same one used by SilenX and Nexus as far as I know. With a simple fan swap, it should be very quiet. There are huge heatsinks in that 400w FSP psu.

I just picked up an Allied 500 watt PSU last week. Seems pretty quite, was 60 bucks. and works like a charm. I know Allied is known for their crappy PSU's you find in a lot of cheap cases. But, this one is a big step up. Googled a couple reviews before I bought it, was great for the price. And I got it at a B&M store, which is always a plus for me.

Seasonic Super Tornado Rev A3. I just last weekend came to the same conclusion as you did about the stock SLK3700-BQE PSU. It's fine when it's under low load, but under load, it grows to a low roar. I got the Seasonic 300W and am pretty happy with it. It just got reviewed over at SilentPCReview.

I paid $69 for it at Fry's in SoCal, but you might be able to find it at your price point.

I'm really surprised the rear 120 is cutting it then for you... I 5volted mine.

The quietest PSU is the 400W zalman in your price range. It's got the massive HS just like the high dollar SilenX PSUs at half the price.

The 120mm fortons suck. Both I've had, had a distinctive whine underloads which most people probably won't notice with other components making so much noise in thier system.
