Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Can you squeeze a 120mm fan in front of the Evercase 4292 (I need space for 4 hard drives)?
Is there a reason people don't recommend the Silverstone SST-TJ04 Gloria? I can see that the grilles are a bit restrictive, but I could nibble them out and replace 'em.
The Evercase can take a 120mm fan in front, with some modification. The Silverstone case looks fine. I guess people recommend the Compucase and the Evercase because they are cheaper and have been around for a long time.
Compucase 6A19 series (twin of the Antec SLK3700AMB under the skin).
Holy crap, that's the same chassis I have. Don't remember who made mine, but I got it 1½ years ago from Newegg and it is black with silver trim in front. No door over drive bays. There is a flap over the USB ports in front, but the ports weren't included (had to rig my own from another case). The front has a filter. I never installed a fan in front, and I cut out the rear fan grill completely. My hard drives ran pretty hot so I have little heatsinks bolted on to the rear sides of each hard drive (currently 3, had all five at one time). This case weighs about 4 tons. Okay, I'm exaggerating, it only weighs one ton.
case with dual 120mm fans is the best choice for cool and quiet cases. However, it seems almost all of the good cases include a door. For me, doors are inconvenient and often flimsy.
You can remove the door on some cases. I have the Antec Super LAN Boy and the door can be removed and the front still looks fine. It is really lightweight, which is why it is marketed as a LAN case, complete with straps. It also came with both front/rear fans and there's plenty of air flow and almost no noise. I have a P4 2.53 overclocked to 3.33GHz in this case using a Zalman 7000-AlCu HSF with a TTGI 350W power supply with 14cm fan. Video card is an MSI FX5900XT that said 28db on the box. The whole system is almost silent. My Compucase clone system is noisier (with an overclocked PressHOT).
