Best PSU for my system

This is the system I'm going to build:

*CPU ? AMD Athlon San Diego 3700+ CPU
*Motherboard ? Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
*Hard Drive ? WD Raptor 74 GB 10,000 RPM SATA
*Case ? Cooler Master Praetorian silver
*Memory ? 512MB OCZ EL memory (x2)
*Video Card ? BFG 256MB GeForce 6800GT OC
*Drive Bay 1 ? NEC ND-3250A

What power supply would you recommend? I'm looking somewhere in the 480-550 watt range... and none of those P&PC (sp?) power supplies... I'd rather not pay f**kin $300 for a PSU!! 😛

I am not looking for a CHEAP one, but nothing over $150.

You dont really need 480-550 watt, although it will leave you room for expansion. Also, just for future reference, watts are a bad way to rate power supplies. My case came with a 450W no-name PSU, that had 9A on the +12V rail. I bought a 480W Antec PSU, and it had 28A on the +12V rail.

Anyway, an Antec NeoPower 480 would go awesomely in your system. It has a 24-pin power connector, and is completely SLI and SATA ready (i think it has active power-factor correction aswell). Otherwise, an Antec 430W or 480W True Power would be good, and a bit cheaper.

Also, I didn't think that there was a 939-pin Athlon64 3700+. I though you just had 3000+, 3200+, 3500+, 3800+ and the 4000+.

I had planned on a NeoPower 480 but wanted to see what else there was... I've never heard of the other brands like Seasonic and Enermax.... been a few years since I built my last system.

QFT

The OCZ PS 520 is the best PSU for the money,

It beats all those other psu's listed.

It is actually just as good as the 200+ PCP&C for $130......

Ajustable rails too.

Either one will be good, maybe more than enough but i`d go with the seasonic

I was checking out this one too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103462

I believe it's the same as the Enermax above (please correct me if I'm wrong) but it has 535w.

As for expansion, I plan on adding another DVD drive, a 2nd video card (down the line, not now), and possibly another HDD.

That neopower supply you are looking at is an awesome powersupply, but if you are interested in saving a bit of money, I just picked up one of the new truepower 430 2.0's for $69.99 at Bestbuy of all places, and it is very powerful It has dual 12v rails with 17amps per rail. Would easily power that system.

I was also looking at that TruePowerII-550.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931

So I've narrowed it down to that one... and these three:

Antec NeoPower 480....

Enermax 535w... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103462

OCZ 520w... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104152

Out of those 4, which would everyone recommend? Or which one to eliminate? Sorry about asking so many questions, I just want the BEST of the best for my new system. 😛

Silverstone sells some decent, Enhance-made PSUs at reasonable prices. Available at the usual suspect sites.
