Best PS3 RPGs/Games

So I got a PS3 for the first time for its exclusives. PC Master race but this PS3 was cheap. What are some great PS3 JRPG/RPG/Games that aren't on PC? Playing Tales of Graces F right now.

A few to consider

Valkyria Chronicles
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX
Eternal Sonata
Tales of Xilla
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International

Is there a reason you didn't include KH HD 1.5 RMin that list? Was just curious if the first compilation has problems, or if you just didn't like its collections of games. I'm still planning to pick up a PS3 sometime for that series alone, and I already picked up 2.5 at launch (to get the Disney pin), so I just noticed the first release's exclusion and thought I'd ask.

No, I felt the KH 2.5 was the better of the two but nothing beyond that. Chain of memories was not good IMO and the "movie" 358/2 days is a lame inclusion.

Is Ni No Kuni a great game? It looks childish and for kids.

Some of the dialog is childish but the gameplay is great. I grew up playing RPGs in the early 90s with kids as the main character so I guess it doesn't bother me as much. I don't think the game is for necessarily for kids though.

I see. I want to consume the story before KH3, and we've still got nothing about a remake/port on new consoles. This is one of the atypical instances I support such a thing, too, as they're bringing the series to a new console market, and many of us missed out on most of the story because they spread it out all over the place (PS2, GBA, PSP, DS, 3DS, Mobile, and probably other stuff I'm forgetting). As such, my intention is to pick up a PS3 solely for the Remix offerings, and maybe play 358/2 Days on 3DS (since I have to do that with Dream Drop Distance anyway).

I actually liked CoM, though maybe that's because I played it on GBA, and it was better on a handheld. Maybe it was just the fact I was a teen with lower standards. Either way, need to find a cheap PS3 sometime soon. Maybe E3 will surprise us with a Bone collection of the franchise, but forgive me for having low expectations when that franchise is such a scattered mess.

Some PS3 games I liked that aren't listed:
RPG
Resonance of Fate
Nier

FPS
Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3 Exclusive)

Wasn't too big a fan of Ni No Kuni, it was a nicely polished game with a LOT of stuff to do, but the story/plot was kind of generic.

Valkyria Chronicles (although classify it as more strategy than rpg, still great game)

Persona 4

Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel (you'd really need to play the first 2 in the series first though, and they are ps2 games...haven't checked, but they might be on the psn)

Ar Nosurge Ode to an Unborn Star - Set in the Ar Tonelico univerese I guess. The Tonelico games probably aren't mandatory to play, but would be helpful. Plus, there was a prequel game that came out before, that didn't get released here. Someone wrote up a novel summary of that game, that would be helpful to read prior as well, but I doubt most people, except diehard fans, would want to go through so much trouble to play a game.

Any Tales game (although my favorite is still Vesperia, which is a xbox 360 release in NA, the other tales games are good enough)

Altelier Rorona, Totori, and Meruru (arland trilogy)- slow paced, with only just enough plot to get the game going...but, the combat and alchemy systems are quite fun to use.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls - pure dungeon crawler, so no plot. I enjoy those types of games occasionally.

Final Fantasy x/x-2 hd remake

Other series I like, but I'd have trouble recommending to people

Hyperdimension Neptunia series

Record of Agarest War series

White Knight Chronicles 2 (came with the first game, so only need to buy the 2nd) - multiplayer servers are shut down, but should be able to still play the story of the single player

If you don't mind downloading ps1 and ps2 classics off the psn for your ps3, then I'd also recommend....

Any of the shin megumi tensei games (although the best, imo, are the persona games)

xenogears

legend of dragoon

chrono trigger

It is very much childish and for kids, so if that's a dealbreaker for you, I'd give it a pass. Gameplay is pretty good, but there are some sequences where the story plods along soooooo slowly it is pretty irritating.

Persona 4 is on ps2. No clue if there is a way to get it on psn though.

Persona 4, and Persona 3 FES are both available on PSN as PS2 classics or whatever they call them, where it runs through the emulator.

For the list, I noticed nobody brought up '3D Dot Game Heroes'. It's a parody on old school RPGs, with combat similar to Zelda.

the last of us
uncharted series
ratchet and clank series
god of war series (including the HD remasters if you havent played them)
resistance fall of man series

Thanks for the tip on the Valkyria Chronicles sale guys. $5 is as low as I've ever seen it on Steam.

Do they get streamed then or do you actually download the game?

You actually download the game, and it launches through the PS3's PS2 emulator software. Just checked, and they call the PS2 games launched in the emulator "PS2 Classics". You have the option to play with it stretched, or with black bars. I actually have the Persona 3 FES PS2 Classic installed on my PS3, but not the Persona 4 (since I have Persona 4 Golden on the Vita instead).

Persona 3 FES, and Persona 4, are only $10 each on PSN.

Ahh cool, didn't know that. I played P4Golden on Vita as well.
