Best Projector for around $1000?

A good friend of mine is dropping a couple grand on a computer and a about a grand on a projector this weekened and I wanted to ask the nerds on the anandtech forums for recomendations and ideas for the type of projector to get. Any help would be great!
 
I have an Infocus 4805 DLP projector. I got it on Black Friday last year for only $500 refurb. It's a great projector, and the only downside is that the resolution is only 480p. You'll probably have to pay like $2,000+ to get a 720p projector though.
