Best program to transfer Outlook emails from one computer to another?

I'm in the process of getting my parents computer upgraded, but I want to ensure I don't lose any of their emails within outlook.
I've looked around for several hours and found a few freeware programs. Anyways I could use any advice on programs, steps to take to ensure no loss. Also would there be any issues with putting the transferred emails into a new edition of Outlook?

Exactly....and choose to export as a Personal Folders file (.pst)

Yes indeed; the best program to transfer Outlook files is by far gonna be Outlook!

I tried exporting but it give me a error message: " this export could not be performed. could not inititalize MAPI" any ideas what I should do?

also I never saw an option to choose to export as a Personal Folders file (.pst)
the version of outlook express is version 6 by the way
