Best program to name digital pictures fast?

Is there a program that will help me name all my pictures very quickly after I've downloaded them from my digital camera? I always mean to get around to renaming them, but I never do and they just stay in that useless DSC10002.jpg format. I'd love a program that I'd just type what I want the picture to be called, not have to type ".jpg" everytime, hit enter, and it went on to the next picture in the folder.

I have ACDSee. I don't think it does what I'm asking for, or if it does, I don't where to access that feature from within the program. Is there anything else out there?

Just have Windows Explorer hide file extensions. It will show the file names only, so if the actual file name is "Something Pic.jpg", it will be shown as "Something Pic", and you can rename it without typing the extension.

Edit: to do it, open Windows Explorer, go to Tools | Options, then the "View" tab, and look there.
