I bought PhotoVista 2.0 for $3.99 and was unimpressed with the results.... So i tried the trial of Photovista 3.0 on the website and it was significantly better, quite impressive...

Is there any other programs i should try before plunking down $48?

I would be interested in this as well...

Right now, I'm using photoshop elements 2 or 3 to do my panorama images. It does a decent job. Normally you can get them for around $50 AR. And you get a powereful image editor to boot.

If you find anything cheaper, let me know.

I wish there was a plugin for theGimp as I am really beginning to like that app.

and, YHPM with some links.

I used it to make this: http://www.mchristen.net/gallery/randomness/pano_1600

The pictures were taken without a tripod and autostitch managed fix the angle of the pics and align them correctly in just a few seconds. Very impressed with it.

I'm going to have to try this tonight... but I seem to remember trying an earlier version of this program and being frustrated with getting it to work properly.

Wow...

I must admit... I'm impressed with autostitch.

These images were put together in about 5 minutes using the default settings and the Gimp to crop.

An all free solution.

Very cool. Thanks for the link. It did my panorama great, except it reassembled a building crooked. I wish I had taken more overlapping pics while I was there (Pike's Place, Seattle). Perhaps I didn't get the settings quite right, either. The FAQ suggests that an un-implemented fisheye version would render it correctly.
