best prog to split divx?

Virtual Dub is more than capable and is good in the fact that it offers Direct Stream Copy of both video and audio so you dont need to recompress (and hence loose quality) when you split/join files. The only problem is that you have to split at a keyframe - the start frame of each video file has to be a keyframe (denoted by a [K] in the frame/time position display in VirtualDub).

I have no knowledge of Avichop.

i use winzip 8.1 file splitter! (dont use any compression)

that way i dont have to actually split the AVI to fit on 2 cds 😉

you will have precise comtrol of the file split too.

One would of course (if knowing they are going to use 2 CD's), encode 1 half of the film to fit on one CD, and then the other half to fit on another....... that way it wouldn't matter if it was a couple of minutes either way as a minor bit-rate adjustment takes care of that.

Of course, if you've downloaded it off the internet you dont have that luxury........ oh and naughty you 😛
