My scanner died about a month ago, and my printer is about 4 years old. I see that those Printer, Scanner, Fax Copier thingies are popular.

I have always been partial to HP printer/scanner stuff, so I will prolly stick with them.

Anyone have one? I wouldn't use the fax, so I basically just need a scanner/printer combo.

Any good deals you know of?

That's about like asking what the best Yugo is.

Spend the extra & get two separate units (decent quality of course), you will thank yourself later.

I've always been fond of the Epson CX3200 ($149.99) and the CX5200 ($199.99). I sell them at work (Gateway Country), but we do all of our copying on them, and I've been very satisfied with them :p

I picked up a HP LaserJet 3330 B&W, love it, the D135 looks good if you want color.

The auto sheet feeder option is sweet:D

That CX3200 looks pretty cool. I have never had experience with Epson stuff, and I hear the ink last like a day. Any opinions on that?

I agree.

Can't stand the Lexmark X85 I have to put up with here. I'd much rather have got seperates

Well, we do about 30 copies per day, and the black cartridge lasted about a month. I guess that's pretty good :p

We've been using HP printer/scanners at work and they are used 24 hours a day 3 shifts and except for ink cart.the darn things are solid and usually last 3 years under constant pounding. I have a 930c deskjet here at the cave...

That could because because it is LEXMARK blehhhh!

I have always heard Epson print quality is a little better than HP, but HP ink consumption is a lot better (less).

I have never had any major problems with HP Inkjets. We have like 100+ of them at work and the only Lasers we use are HP LaserJets.

Yeah...tell me about it :| I didn't get a choice in the matter, it just arrived here one day :(

If it was my decision I would have got an Epson C60, and an Epson 810 scanner (i think that's the model no) from my old work, and picked up a load of ink for £1.50 each!

If you want an all-in-one, I'd say go for the Epson, cos you pay a LOT less for the ink, compared to an HP anyway :)

IMO, HP is crap.

Every Multifunction device we've had from HP has been crap.
Their printers are crap. The sheet feed issue with the 1100's is complete BS.

Plus, their products are EXPENSIVE to fix.
We have a G85 printer/fax/scanner right now and I can think of cheaper, more efficient ways to do what it does. It's slow and bulky.

I'd go Epson, Canon, or Brother over HP any day.

I will have to agree with you on those 2 points. But HP overall is a great company and make awesome printers that rarely break and work for years, IMO.

I'll agree with that move. When you consider the cost of consumables, HP and even the Epson printers (with the electronic chips in the cartridges) will cost you a bit more to print with. Personally, I like Canon gear. Their low profile scanners take up a small footprint on the desktop and they perform very well. Also, Canon has new printers out. You can get the i550 from Office Depot for approximately $99 (after $30 mail-in rebate & $25.00 off coupon.) This "pair" would perform very well - and only run you about $20.00.

Heck, the nut in the auction that was provided in the link wants $40.00 to ship the beast. Ouch!
