Does anyone know what's going on with when these will be available? The date at NewEgg keeps getting pushed back farther and farther. They sold out towards the end of June, and I heard here that 1000 units were coming in mid july. Today the date got pushed back yet again to 8/31. Are they going to be coming in or are they just going to keep being pushed back? I've held off for months now waiting for these speakers and I don't want to just keep waiting if they're not ever going to be coming in.

I'm not making judgement on Swan speakers but there are a lot of speaker scams out there. A lot of people including myself have gotten taken for a ride buying Theater Research speakers that were hyped up, had fake reviews and brochures, exagerated retail price ($2000 retail but sells for $400 due to inventory reduction) and misleading sales pitch. Do a google search for "theater research scam". Beware since you can end up with hyped up low-fi mass produced speakers that are not even worth $100. Has anyone checked to see if the address listed on theaudioinsider.com is a real company and not a PO box such as the case with trtheaterresearch.com?

Long, I havnt heard of trtheaterresearch.com and sorry for the loss you had the suffer :( but truth be told, these are really nice speakers, they are highly regarded at places like head-fi as well. not some 'phony' review, but opinions from real people in the forums.

the swans are no joke, they really are highly regarded even by the audio gurus. im a headphone guy, but seriously, try out the m200s, they are great. try the aego speakers too, they are good too. (relative to pc audio)

Let's not go there. At the same time let's not pretend anything sub $200 is remotely hifi or "good sounding" to hifi people.

I second that.

Do you have to get extra tall speaker stands? I mean, otherwise you wouldn't be at head level with your speakers, being on that high horse and all.

stay away from these actually, unless you have a real crappy sound card you're not gonna want a frequency response that bad anyway.

decent speakers would range from 35hz-20hz, but these start off at 62hz, thats a lot of bass thats gonna come out as distortion
I thought that meant bass below 62Hz just wouldn't come out at all, not that it would be distorted.

Anyway, you base speaker recommendations not on specs, but on sound quality. demana's first link contradicts both you and the specs, though:
At the same settings, the Swans put out quite a bit of clean bass, and I would estimate the usable limits to be at about 35 Hz at the 80 dB setting, and 45 Hz at the 60 dB setting.

3DSS' review of the M-200's was enough to convince me they're better than most, if not all, PC speakers in terms of musicality (rather than rump shakin', which my new Logitech Z-2200's appear to do quite well--at the expense of musicality :\). demana's additional reviews reinforce 3DSS' high opinion of this set, as does this review (complete with nice pics) I found when searching for info on whether the M200's had been changed in any way after I discovered NewEgg's great price on the M-200s a week or two ago (which I forgot to post about here--whoops).

I was hesitant b/c NewEgg offered them for such a low price. I was thinking mainly of Creative buying CSW's PC speakers, and how the quality apparently dipped after that (my Microworks aren't anything to write home about, IMO). I though something similar happened here with these well-reviewed speakers.

I agree that Jon's posting a deal he apparently stands to profit from (assuming he's an owner or shareholder of TAI, as opposed to just an employee) seems shady. As long as you're here, though, Jon, can you tell us if these speakers are made the same way and in the same factory as the ones reviewed so glowingly (relative to other PC speakers) at 3DSS and other sites? If so, this seems like a good deal for these speakers, and is probably a better buy than most 2.1 PC systems for those that want musicality over punch (like my Z-2200's, but I wasn't expecting more for $55AR*).

* I was hoping for more, though. :)

These M200's are the exact same speakers that have always been sold as the M200's. The Audio Insider seems to work closely with Swans USA as they are the main distributor for everything *except* the multimedia line. The price Newegg is offerring them at is lower than The Audio Insider ever offerred them, so it seems Newegg probably negotiated a better deal directly from Swans. TAI does have plenty of contacts with Swans, though, so it wouldn't surprise me to hear that Newegg relies on them for some sort of support role in acquisition of speakers.

I don't have a problem with Jon posting a good deal on these speakers, seeing as how this is really the only way to purchase them, and they're pretty well regarded in the higher end multimedia market. This isn't really an issue of a certain dealer posting to make sure people buy from them specifically...if you want the speakers, at what's a good price, you have to buy them from Newegg now :)

It sounds like these M200's are extremely popular around the world (much more so than the U.S.) so in early September when Newegg gets their shipment, I expect them to quickly sell out again. Realistically, they'll jack up the price and try and keep from running out of stock too quickly.

the loophole really is newegg.com. you cant say nothing about someone posting a deal from newegg .regardless, it's newegg and they pay for advertisement anyway.

Seriously.... do you know anything at all about audio? Swans have been around for quite some time, and their speakers, including the M200's, are very well respected.

Thanks for the PSA, but we're all safe here. It's not like the guys in the white vans are selling Swans.

Does anyone know if these are discontinued or if the company went up? The swans kept getting pushed back and back, and now they're not listed on newegg anymore.
