i've heard good things about these speakers... they rate high against alot of PC speakers... but my question is, at this price, how does it compare to bookshelf speakers? like say a pair of Infinity Primus 150 for $160...

not everyone has the luxury of $$$ and space to have a good enough receiver to go with the infinitys right? this speaker gets good feedback even from head-fi members....

My 2 cents....

moderator note states that because he's been a good member for 2 years and they hadn't had a problem before with him... Jon = new member

BTW
Rip on me. That's fine. I'm a secure enough. My arguements were mostly in jest. Something to do durning the day. Most of them were solid enough as most of you actually know. I guess most of us aren't adult enough to see an arguement without responding with some foolish comment. Then again maybe you're just joking. If so then I'll laugh once for yah. Ha.

this is as good as computer speakers get. actually swan has more expensive line up too, but thats like 800ish... i never got to hear the Edriols, but other than that when it comes to music

Swan m200 > Sirocco Crossfire = Midiland S2 4100 > Gigaworks > Klipsch > everything else, just about.

thats based my limited personal experience and reading reviews like the ones posted on 3dsoundsurge.

this man speaks the truth. this is the best your PC audio will get, and its no where near hi-fi. but it will be tremendously better than all other speakers for PCs with regards to the aego2/crossfire without going on to independent monitors and their accompanying equipment which is generally not worth it for PC audio. for this price, they are awesome, as the m200s are often hard to buy for any price at all.

Yeah they can, as long as it's an aluminum case.

Frequency response: 62Hz - 20kHz

stay away from these actually, unless you have a real crappy sound card you're not gonna want a frequency response that bad anyway.

decent speakers would range from 35hz-20hz, but these start off at 62hz, thats a lot of bass thats gonna come out as distortion

That's because they have no dedicated subwoofer. Remove the subwoofer from your "decent" speakers and I'm sure they would have similar response, if not worse.

No info on -3dB point, and slope, but seriously, that tells you very little other than that they're reasonably compact monitors.

Here's a bit of objective measurements:

http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/reviews/SwanM200/

Small monitors generally don't produce anything usable below 45-50hz or so anyway. Heck, look at the specs for the JM Labs Micro Utopia Be, Revel Gem, or B&W Signature 805's. None of them produce any usable output below that level either.

No small speakers can reproduce ACCURATE bass below 50-60hz. Those rated at 35hz are a just a number for the audio illiterate. If you need bass, then get a subwoofer or a big floorstanding set.

This stupid argument about the forum rules is ridiculous. How many times has someone posted here and said "I work at OfficeBling, and next week the such-and-such goes on sale for $x.xx" and no one cares a bit?

The rule says, "No links to deals, promotions or offers by your own business or your employer." That's it, period. It's not his company, and it's not his employer. If you don't like it, lobby Anandtech to change the rules. Personally, I appreciate the insider info that appears here from time to time. Those are typically some of the hottest deals.

The whole argument comes down to just a couple of guys with overblown egoes starting a bunch of crap over nothing. This is a hot deal, plan and simple.

Exactly why Jon Lane should be banned and this topic deleted.

Umm..... the link is to newegg. NOT to his own site, smacktard.

Just got mine today, listening to them as I type, and absolutely *loving* them. I had no interest in a 4/5.1 computer system, as I generally can't stand computer "subwoofers". I wanted quality speakers for my computer, and these fit the bill. Highly recommended.

(fyi, I have Mirage speakers in my HT (with SVS sub) and an Axiom set-up in the master bedroom--these speakers are closer to my HT speakers than any pc speakers I've ever heard.)

Technically I think Jon probably shouldn't be allowed to post but if we go by all these "technicalities" you could find something critical about anyone. Personally, I think he is doing people a service by letting them know that Newegg has the Swans at such low prices.

That said, I went and bought the T120's, a 2.1 system. I sure would like to compare them to the M200's but just based on their own merits, the T120's are a superb system in terms of sound, appearance and build quality. They need some break in time, though. Prior to this I had the Monsoon MM702's and these are clearly superior (albeit more expensive). There's better balance, and more accurate bass.

There are no technicalities involved. He is promoting a product that he sells to Newegg. Its obvious and he even just above admitted it. If that isn't advertising, I don't know what is.
