Best price athlon for a cracking board.

Well I am getting a gigabyte GA-7VKML board and I am planning on getting a Athlon 1GHz processor to go in it. The price on it is only 37 dollars. But is there another athlon/duron that has a better price to performance ratio?

I don't know what DC project you run but for SETI the Duron with the Morgan core (brother of AthlonXP) is faster than the Athlon Tbird clock for clock.
Btw those Durons are easy to unlock ,unlike the XP

My Duron 1.2@1.31GHz (9x145) was doing WU's in 4hrs40mins range

I would go with the 1600+ as it is only $54 from newegg. I also saw a mention of a 2000+ for $69 but I do not remember from where.

A 1.3 gig duron is $38. If you are running ECCP MHZ is the only thing that matters.

Well I can get the 1.3ghz duron for 37 dollars also. I am currently running ECCp and plan to switch over to SETI once its done. So I guess its a 1.3GHz duron for me.

would be enought to run just the motherboard with the processor a small hd (800MB if I can find one) or a floppy drive stably? If it works out good I am looking at buying maby two or three more of these to do some crunching..... ( I am really bored up here at college and have some money saved up from work over the summer.. I know I should save it but the TeAm could use the help. )
