Thinking I have to replace my current ram in order to overclock. Im pretty sure its bad ram. Its that PNY optima stuff you get from best buy. In fact it so bad that two out of the 4 sticks 1 gig each has gone bad on me one initially just never worked and the other 1 went bad after about a weeks worth of use. Anyway I want to replace my 2x 1 gig sticks.

Guess Im looking for the cheapest deal, but for quality ram.

Thanks.

OCZ, Corsair, Crucial Ballistix are all good. I have some faster Geil memory in the For Sale/Trade section (shameless plug). Check Newegg and Zipzoomfly as they are always having sales and rebates.

How am I going to use your ram? The only ram I found that your selling is PC4200?!

Hmm but the kensington is less money a trustable name brand (Who is G.Skill?) has almost identicle timings 2-3-2-6 at DDR400.

Unless I missing something here. I mean I can buy two of those Kensingtons and that will make it dual channel if placed in the right slots no? Or is there something encoded into the G.Skill that makes them true Dual channel?

Thanks.

Ideally you want an actual dual channel kit, as two separate 1GB sticks, even if they're same model and everything, won't always work for dual channel. And in an A64 system the tRAS timing (the 5 or 6) is usually best at 6 or 7 in the A64 world for some reason. If you have the desire, this is a worthy read.

Thank-you so much! That is very helpful! I just need to figure out what the best deal is on the ram Im looking for.
