What is a good and "cheap" AGP card on Newegg that is better than
my 128mb ATI Radeon 9500 AGP?

My cpu is is Pentium D805 (dual 2.8 oc), but I got a "poor" performance test score running the Company of Heroes benchmark. I don't want to spend alot of money, as I'm planning on upgrading to PCI-express down the road. Just need something a bit better without costing an arm and a leg.

Something in the Radeon X800 series might do the trick.

The 7800GS handles the game well, but it's $250ish, and that might be not 'cheap'?

[/quote]Define: cheap. Define some sort of budget
I'm not sure how much I should really spend. How about if I rephrase the question:
What is the best graphic card / price for
1. $150 - $200
2. $100 - $150
3. $50 - $100
I'm been out of computer for a long time now so I"m not sure if a 7300 is faster than 7600. I remember both ATI and nVidia are notoriously bad at tricky names. I remember that my ATI 9500 is actually faster than the standard 9600, but slower than the XT, but much faster than the 9550. I hate marketing deparment.

7600GT. Got mine for 170 shipped and haven't looked back. I saw my WC3 frames sky rocket from about 60 FPS to maybe 250 or so...too bad I don't play anything more intensive than dota ;) I'm sure as I go back and try other games such as Sim City 4 I will enjoy it more.

However - AFAIK ATI is a better choice for AGP because prices are better for the preformance you get...but if you use linux like I do, nVidia is all you need.

Btw If you go nvidia I suggest 7600GT over a 7800GS. Performance is bloody near identical, but the 7600GT is MUCH less demanding on the PSU.

I have the 7800 GS and it runs COH decently, the 6800 or 7600 agp can be had for a better price I think.

If you can swing $200 the 7800GS would be about the best you can get. Otherwise maybe pick up a used 6800GT or X850.

I bought a 7800GS about 4 or 5 months ago to tie me over until I get a new Vista rig next year. It runs CoH quite well.

Let us know when you find an X1950Pro AGP for $200.

i search hot deals every day ... for just such an elusive beast

i understand that there have been 'tracks' but no real confirmed sightings or any AGP breeds bagged .... :p

probably by X-mas in this price range if you are really really lucky ;)

the 7800GS, x850xt, 7600GT are available now ... and would be OK for CoH if you don't expect too much.

what resolution do you game at and what is the rest of your rig like?

Thansk for all the suggestions, the X1950 is very nice, but I don't want to spend $200 for a soon-to-be-retired AGP platform. I have a 19" Widescreen LCD, so I only need it good enough to run @1440x900 resolution. Let me rephrase the question again.
What is the best $100 - $150 AGP card,
and what is the sub $100 AGP card choice?
Looking for best-value-cheapo near $100 card

Hands down I would go for the Radeon x850xt. You can find it for about $150 on these forums or elsewhere. It performs quite well considering its low price.
Sub $100? I believe I heard the x800GTO was a fabulous card for the $

you are welcome for the suggestions but frankly you shouldn't expect much for $150 and might as well give up gaming at 14x9 if you are gonna go cheap at $100. :p

look for used. ;)
