Recently, i was asked what the best desk top pre built system is out there. I was wondering if are any thoughts on it. Most of the articles i read are for people that know enough about a pc to do it themselves.

This system will be for people that are not that tech savy and dont want to build it themselves.

Price is an issue here. They need the best bang for their buck.

They may not need a monitor ( most newer TV's are able to be plugged into your PC )

Dual monitor capability would be a nice option with it.

Light to Moderate usage such as some MS Office stuff but able to play newer games out or soon to come out. Needs to be able to last a few years without getting dated ( cant play new games because its alerady to old )

What about a good cordless keyboard and mouse? ( Energizer now makes some really nice rechargable batteries if needed and prefered )

I was thinking of suggesting Dell but with a lot of not well known companies out there, I wanted to be sure to check all my bases before I said anything.

Has Anandtech done a review for these recently? ( PCs for the average non tech user )
Or do they plan to?

Dell.

And AnandTech is a tech site, I doubt they'd do any articles or reviews aimed at a "non tech user".

AT does do reviews like that, to some extent: http://www.anandtech.com/syste...howdoc.aspx?i=2834&p=2

I dunno, you should just get yourself a dell, with at least 2gb of ram, 250-500gb HD, core 2 duo 2.4ghz or faster. Qaudcore not necesary. And videocard, something like a 9600gt, 8800gt, HD3870 ? All the other stuff isn't that important, and you should be able to figure that out by yourself.

Good luck with this hunt. Finding/building a system period that will play even today's newer games (Crysis, SupCom, etc) acceptably is tough especially if you are on a budget.

Finding a budget system that will also play tomorrow's new games? Heh.

Consider something like the Dell system being kicked around in the hot deals forum. Replace the 8300GS with a real video card, add another 1GB memory and that'll set you up for a couple of years. Even comes with a 24" LCD for your viewing pleasure.

But even a system like this is not going to push games several years from now.
