Best Possible Overclock without Unlocking... ?

I plan on building a system with the Soyo Dragon Plus motherboard with a XP1900+ (maybe XP2000+). I am very unfamilar with the Athlon XP processors, but I do understand they are "locked" from being overclocked. But I believe it's possible to semi-overclock it by chaning the FSB. If so, what's the highest possible can I overclock it without unlocking it? Thanks for any replies.

I was able to get my Athlon XP 1800 (1533Mhz 11.5 Multiplier)
to 1725 at default voltage and 150Mhz FSB (with a Volcano 7 with the fan modded to spin at full power)
I think that my FSB is being held back by my PCI cards...who needs sound anyway? ;)

The Athlon XP's actually run moderately cooler than the Thunderbirds
I had a drop of 20 Degrees F idle from my 1.4 Thunderbird at 1650Mhz 11x Multiplier,
98 degrees vs 121 degrees

The XP 1900+ and 2000+ most likely won't do as well due to the fact that the multiplier is higher,
so you might get more CPU Mhz, but less FSB Mhz.

In my eXPerience 5Mhz more on the FSB give's about 150-200 more 3DMarks, where as 100 more Mhz on the CPU
give's about 100 3DMarks more...

BTW I haven't updated my 3dmark scores or my anantech online stuffs yet so my thunderbird is still there.

I've been able to get my 1600+ to 1680Mhz, vcore and ram-voltage maxed though (1.85 and 2.7). 10.5 x 160Mhz.

Please remember results very immensely...

1)egrimm is likely got a newer chip out of the 2000+ lot of chips.

2)motherboard chipsets and features will really decide if you can achieve 160fsb...w/o ram adjustments unlikely to achieve 160 with pc2100 memory...

3)pci cards and such can greatly effect the boards ability to take the higher fsb

Give us a list of full specs for a little more accurate speculation....

Nope, I got one of the early batches of XPs, it's an AGKGA from the start of November. And as I said in my post I had to use 1.85 vcore and 2.7v for the ram. Yes, I got lucky and got a very good chip and I have a good hsf too, an Alpha PAL8045 with a 46.5cfm Papst fan.
For further specs of the system look under Baudros in the Rigs link in my sig.

you will see some phenominal O/C results reading forums, ect.....

Things to consider.......

Different people have different ideas of successful overclocking....

Some, think making it into windows without a crash is good enough
Some, think being able to run a few minutes (or seconds) is good enough
Some, think not having to change settings from those of the benchmark to those of everyday use is necessary
to call an O/C successful
Some, flat out lie about their achievements
Some, are very conservative and could really do better

Bottom line, try not to set those expectations unrealistically, use incremental methods of tweak & test....
you won't know what YOUR setup will do until YOU do it.

EDIT: OMG I re-read this post and it could be misintrepreted.......... I am NOT implying you have been
given any bad information in this thread...........

Ok I did have to up the voltage and drop the FSB down to 148 after awhile,
but now I am at 1700Mhz and 148 FSB Stable with 1.85 Volts Vcore and 2.65 RAM

Insidious Has a good point in that you should not get your hopes up to high,
My system is housed in an Antec SX-1035B SOHO Server Case with 8 or so Fans
as well as I live in a cold climate...

Anyway the Soyo Dragon Plus should be able to hit 160 FSB without problem,
however i don't know about the Althon being able to hit 1920Mhz (or 2.0 Ghz)
As well as your Pci cards HDD at 40Mhz etc.etc.etc.

so I would say around 145 FSB (1740 or 1812.5 Mhz Chip) would be you maximum overclock,
But there are soooooo many variables that could affect your overclocking XPerience.

I was able to get my Athlon 1900+ to overclock to 1.764ghz from 1.6ghz without changing the multiplier. I set my fsb to 147, my vcore to 1.825 and my ram voltage to 2.65. I could probably overclock even more but I was never a big fan of maxing out my vcore. I'm going to experiment though and see if I can get 1.8ghz.

Insidious is right, don't get your hope up too high, and there's different ideas of what is a successfull oc.

I've gotten my 1600+ to 1680, that's true, but it's not completely stable, it crashes after a couple of hours. It doesn't matter if I stress it, it's stable for about two hours no matter what, then it crashes. To some people this is a successfull oc though, that's why I list it (and it is somewhat stable, after all), plus bragging of course.
I've let it burn in for a month (ran 1533, 10.5x146) now though nad it seem to have helped as it would crash after some hours before if I ran anything above 1575, now it runs 1627 stable.
I don't know if it'll go farther, but I have a Blorb that I'll lap when I get the time and put it on the northbridge instead of the heatsink, I hope that'll help a little.
