here my PC :

MB : Asus P6T SE
Ram : 6GB
Cpu: i7 950 3.06 GHZ
PSU : Corsair 850W

i plan to use my cpu's maximum power and i want to know want will be the best card or cards witch will not be bottleneck by i7 950 at stock clocks ! i will not overclock so don't tell me that please ....

i know it depens on game to .. some games are cpu demanding ... some not ....

i think i need something between gtx 680 and gtx 680 in sli with 3.0 ghz stock clock...

gtx 680 sli will be too powerfull and cpu will bottleneck it at stock clocks ....

cpu can handle 1 gtx 680 with no problem ....

so what will be the best deal ??? gtx 670 s in sli ? or something weaker ??? something like a bit stronger then gtx 590 ?

i just want to know maximum potencial of my cpu ^^ hope you understand me....

680 is overpriced right now. 670 or 7970 is what I would look for. (well, I AM)

Try a single card first before purchasing two unless there is an exigent circumstance (e.g. buy one get one free).

Oh I forgot the mighty 690. I guess one can make a case it is the "best possible GPUs."

thnx ^^ but it's not about prcie :D i mean sure 670 is better deal ^^

on nvidia site bcecmarks done on i7 3.3 8gb ram.... it's not a big difference from 3.0 and you know my cpu has turbo to witch allows single core to get 3.3 ghz :p

um ... okay let's see

680 sli > 690=> 670 sli > 590 > 680 > 670

lineup.png

can my cpu hande gpu witch will me like on 45k score ? taht means a bit faster then 590 and slower then 670 sli ^^

why ? your i7 860 bottlenecked gtx 670 ??

i don't care about 3d mark benchamrks .... im only about games ^^

but it's a bit strange coause my friend has gtx 680 and same cpu nad no problems at stock clocks .... on any game 99% gpu usage ....

and one more thing .... i got before 7970 and i sold it because i needed money :(

so my cpu on stock clock used 7970 on 99% usage on all games i tested ...

metro 2033
crysis 2
battlefield 3
skyrim
witcher 2

so im sure that my cpu at stock clocks can handle single radeon 7970 at least and gtx 680 to

blasphemy is not reading my posts ...

i will not overclock so don't tell me that please ....

i posted before and please don't let me repeat it .... i don't want to reduce lifespan of cpu !

im not overlcocked. . is thhat hard to understand ??? post it again ???

i will not overclock !
i will not overclock !
i will not overclock !
i will not overclock !
i will not overclock !

if you have no idea how i7 950 pefroms at stlock clocks then don't post it .. no problem ...

Dude if you overclock it might reduce the processor from working for 10 years to 9 but since it's already 2 generations behind a 3770K why do you care about it lasting so long?

At stock speeds it will bottleneck all the high end cards.

What resolution do you play at? CPU speed has greatest effect on min fps for the most part.

on 1080P dude ....

Don Karnage

are you sure ??

for example if i put it on 4.0 ghz 24/7 with good cooler and keep nermal temperature alltime ... it will reduce only one year from 10 ???

i ask because i plan to keep my cpu like 4-5 years more .... and my cpu is already 2 years old

Overclocking only shortens the life of processors if you go for like 6Ghz with LN2. You could put it at 4Ghz and it'll be fine for the next 5 years.

its conjecture...no one can know for certain. in general, if you keep it below 1.4v and temps are normal, you shouldn't have to worry about life expectancy.

i recently bought a gigabyte gtx 670 to replace 2 gtx 260 sli'd. with a 930 @ 4ghz it was a world of difference.

can you do something please ??? for example benchamrk Battlefield 3 or some other game on stock clock with i7 950 and tell me how big will be difference in fps .... i think there will be no difference .... because my friend got 50-90 fps on gtx 680 with stock clocked i7 950 .... same results got another with i7 2600k .... so ?

now i have gtx 480 .... and i know that gtx 480 sli will beat 670 .... but i don't like sli setups

Bf3 is gpu bound but even with a 670 you will.see some nice gains from overclocking

The odds of motherboard failure are most likely greater than CPU failure even running stock speeds.

Doing a consevative overclock around 4ghz most likely wouldn't change the.laws of probability much.

I7 920 2.66 ghz usage is 40% on gtx 580 .... i7 2600k 3.4 ghz is on 32% .... only 8% difference and i have even 3.1ghz .... i know that 670 is 35-45% faster then gtx 580 but it will just use cpu more ya ???

for example on gtx 670 with i7 2600k usage will be 70% and on gtx 670 with i7 950 ... cpu usage will be 80-85% ya ? thats all i think ...

and how cna you exmpaly 99% gpu usage on all games when i had radeon 7970 ??? it's not a lot weaker then gtx 670 all knows that ... they are almust same ...

i got 99% gpu usage on 10 games .... so no cpu or ram bottleneck ... i saw it with my eyes so i know what im talking about ^^

im wondering .... can i7 950 handle gtx 670 sli on it can't handle even weaker gpu power ?

i said ... i got 7970 ... and i got 99% gpu usage on all games ... do you think i just lie ? is there any point to lie for me ? i guess no ....

so my cpu cna handle 7970 ... so it can handle 670 to for sure .....

if i posted that im interested only in stock clock performance fo i7 950 ... is that hard to answer on that question ?

i ask abput stock clocks because if try to OC cpu to 4.5 ghz it wil leven handle 690 ... and there is no point to ask ;/

is that simple ? isnn't it ??

thank you all really .... i know you all like overlockeing but it's just me .. who don't .... so im bad because i don't like it ? ;/

As Don stated I would never worry about overclocking making a significant difference on the lifespan of your CPU. Unless you are pushing way more voltage into the chip than Intel recommends you should never be impacting the lifespan of the CPU in a significant way. Furthermore on modern CPUs you don't have to raise the voltage much to achieve a good OC so worrying about CPU lifespan is not necessary. If the CPU wears out because of an OC it will likely be a moot point as CPUs last so long it will be very outdated.

then you can call all people idiots who bought i7 960 i7 950 I7 930 and not bought i7 920 ..... then why make processors with higher stock frequencies if all are sMART enough to overclock ?

so there is a 2 things

1) all who bought high stock clocked prosessors are idiots
2) all who make high stock clocked prosessors are idiots because no one will buy higher stock clocked cpus if they can overlock ....

witch one of that 2 is correct ?

What is correct is to buy one card and try your games at 1080p. If you aren't getting satisfactory performance, try lowering your resolution, if you FPS goes up significantly, BUY ANOTHER CARD.

That's it, everything you've said is off topic and frankly rude.
