Howdy all,

I haven't used a Pop Up Blocker on my current PC beacuse on my last PC (Win 98) I couldn't find one that worked very well. They always seemed to crash the browser randomly or have other problems.

My current PC is running XP Home w/ IE6. I'm looking for two categories...

1) What is the Best Pop Up Blocker there is. (Catches most windows, least crashing, etc)

2) What is the best blocker that's Free?

Thanks.

My favorite is called PopUpCop. I think they have a free thirty-day trial and maybe a free crappier version that you can keep if you need those.

When links open in new windows it almost never acts like they are popups and closes them like another program I tried called Popup Stopper did.

PopUpCop has lots of features too, check it out.

AdSubtract is THE best one. Ads, popups, java, even javascript. I've been using it for over a YEAR now. Rock solid.

And check out my Flash Disabler, too :)

Mozilla, it's worked perfectly since I first tried it. All the popups I need work and all the annoying ones never make it to me.

The best one I have used is Zero Popup 4.0. When you open up IE, ZeroPopup appears in your tray, blocking popups, ads, etc, whatever you like. The whitelist feature is good. If you want to see popups, you can simply close the icon and Zero Popup won't come back until you restart IE. Unfortunately, it's $24.95. !

Used to use POW! but got tired of having to add pop-ups to the list all of the time (esp. the way that stupid X-10 camera changes its title so often).

Pop-up Stopper for me now!

No problems here, there is a free version even.

I use it too, but sometimes its a pain in the ass to hold down CTRL when you wanna see a single popup or even if you wanna open another instance of your IE window (popup stopper only allows 1 instance, and blocks the others unless you press ctrl)

Mozilla is definitely great, but if you need IE, I would go with privoxy.
