Best point and shoot?

I've been a Canon fan for years but I'm not thrilled w/my SD980 - pictures are often a little fuzzy, it takes way too long to shoot after pushing the shutter button, and low light is problematic even with the OIS. From what I've read about the latest Canon point-n-shoots they don't sound any better. So, any recommendations for a really great, smaller PnS? Requirements:

1) don't care about megapixels, but should be able to blow up to 8x10s.
2) really good clarity and color
3) good low-light
4) the bigger the optical zoom the better - one thing i love about this cam is the 5x optical zoom
5) still needs to be comfortable pocket size - i take it skiing and don't want a lot of bulk. the SD980 is pushing this envelope - i'd love something smaller!

thanks in advance!
