EASILY the best vacation EVER EVER EVER!

(10 days of whitewater rafting in Chile)

intinerary

Imagine a raging inferno of a river that due to the grinding of the glacier that feeds it is carribean blue. Now imagine a bucolic flood plain with one tent every 5 miles. Now imagine the flood plain bumps up against massive snow covered mountains. Now imagine it's a nice 75 degrees. Now imagine riding down that river with the best white water guides in the world ensuring your safety while maximizing your fun!

And the rafting is only some of the fun...

India or Dubai,United Arab Emirates .. great weather in both countries in march too

I'll second Dubai, although if you're young you may not find much to do there.

And you don't have to worry so much about the exchange rate since they won't use the euro for another 5 or 6 years.

well how young are you talking about? 😛 ... there is quite a lot for teenagers!

If you've never been outside the U.S., I'd say stick with something basic so as to get your feet wet with international travel for more adventurous trips later. European destinations are generally a good way to start off but it's very expensive right now as others have pointed out, and March is generally still a bit on the cooler side even in the southern cities like Nice and Barcelona (average highs in the upper 50s).

If you're both the very adventurous, fearless type that first-time travelling wouldn't faze then some alternatives to a standard Eurotrip might be Peru (go see Machu Picchu while you still can), Morocco, Uganda (safari), South Africa (ditto on the safari), or even Beirut, Lebanon (take a side trip to Jordan to see Petras while you're at it). All more expensive than a package 7-day NYC-London type of deal but also much more interesting.

Hawaii in March is good.

If you go in Summer time, Italy, Spain and France are awesome!

Australia in December/January is good as well.
