hey, i've been thinking about starting investing after playing with simulators for a long time. What do you guys think is the best place to trade? I'm looking mainly for something fast with cheap trades.

But long-term you're better off setting up a Roth IRA account at vanguard.com to buy and hold good mutual funds like their S&P 500 index fund VFINX.
 
thank you very much, but I would like to get a few more opinions before I jump on one of these for sure.

so Etrade seems to be the best for now
 
If you want more opinions, try Advanced Search of archived threads, and try the any of option with "invest broker stocks"

There have been at least a half dozen good threads on this in the last year and the companies available haven't changed much.
