I need to submit a few websites i created, but where is the best place to do that, and the cheapest too.

Every search engine worth using integrates the Open Directory Project's database into their results. Pick a correct subcategory to get listed under and being listed on dmoz.org will help your website immensely.

It's still kinda cheep and lowers what I think of the service though - compared to http://dmoz.org/add.html

we use addme.com for our online store, when I first set it up I went through the option of submitting us to search engines there, next day we were bombarded with spam :(
