Well, looks like the future wife wants to go to cancun. I was wondering what you guys think is the best hotel to stay for honeymooners?

I think cancun is still undergoing some major reconstruction after the hurricanes. It may not be the best time to visit.

We've stayed at the all-inclusive Palace Resorts before. There are several of them spread out along the strip. It's pay for one, play at all. There are buses to take you between them. We stayed at the Moon Palace, which is really nice, but it's away from the strip. The pool area is awesome though!

A friend of mine stayed at iberostar, just south of cancun like 10 minutes.

She enjoyed it, but as stated, how can you not?!@$%^&*

Yeah, I was looking into going there but after doing a little research it doesn't look like things are entirely rebuilt yet. There was major damage to most of the resorts down there. Rates are cheap but there's a reason for that.

July'll be hotter 'n hell & 100% soaking humidity.
Cancun's a winter destination.

If your July schedule is firm, maybe somewhere more temperate further south, say Chile or Argentina? Fiji? NZ? Oz?

Does anyone know the avg temperature range for cancun during july-august?

Don't stay in Cancun ... stay south of there on the Mayan Riviera. It is beautiful, and not so busy. We've stayed at the Barcelo Maya resort which was pretty great. Good food, tons of facilities, and decent transport in and out of Playa del Carmen.

I'd recommend out of Cancun for a honeymoon ... Cancun for partying :)

I have read that the white sand beaches are almost completely gone. The article had a picture with it also. It did not look good. Lots of damage to structures too.

You'd better be certain before you book a trip.

Edit: Look what I found using Google!

We went last year in late August. Hotter than hell, and the humity was extreme (being from dry Idaho) - but that was excellent. We stayed at the Azul blue, about 1 hr south of Cancun, about 3 miles from any major road. It was honestly the best place there (We also stayed at El Dorado Sea Side Suites and that was crap in comparison). If you want pics, let me know!

It rained every day when I went to Aruba 2 years ago, but I had a ball. I love Cancun too though. It's very nice this time of year, but way too crowded in the Summer. I recommend The Ritz Carlton if you want the best. It looks like they are still trying to recover from Wilma though.

Heh I went for 5 days straight in June and it didn't rain once :). I think there was a sprinkle for like 5 minutes once, but thats the closest thing.

and from what i've heard of Aruba, when it rains, it usually rains quickly then gets very nice again.

The natives kept saying that they never saw such rain before, so it's wasn't the norm. It was pretty bad though, because the roads were flooded everywhere. We made the best of it, but I don't think I'll be returning.

cozumel is the best place to stay in cancun.
I've been around that area and I will only go to cancun to use the airport.
Cancun reminded me of a girls gone wild video in Ft. Lauderdale on spring break.
