Best place to start? NEVER used PhotoShop.

I have Photshop and Ive never used it. (Ive used fireworks...so I have an idea about grahpics.) Where is the best place to start just for playing around with Photoshop?

just search the net for the thousands upon thousands of tutorials. dont do the tutorial just to make thepicture, instead learn the tools and techniques. it'll take a while but the tuts will work fine. also dont be afraid to ask forhelp. ive been photoshopping for about a year and never touched a book, but theres still plenty to learn..good luck

Someone dropped 400 beans on a gift you haven't used? Either your friends are way more elite than mine, or you need to get a refund and buy yourself a tivo or something. Look, I'm not accusing everyone of being a pirate (nor even CrowDog here), just saying that it's funny how many people claim to legitimately own photoshop but don't seem to have a *manual* and come here for advice. As I've answered people's questions in about 20 different threads on the subject, I figure I might have the right to point that out.

He could have Photoshop LE or something - which doesn't come with a manual.

That's very true, but didn't they stop making LE around version 4.0? I thought Adobe Elements would have caught on more than it has, but evidently the real deal seems to be falling into everyone's laps. 😉

take the advice, go get tuts, I have been using ps for about 3 weeks and my progress is good, then again, I have always been more creative and artistic then the avg. If I would photoshop like that guy for a year, i'm sure he's really good
