I'm looking to buy a new laptop for work. I do a lot of multitasking between photoshop, acrobat pro, firefox/IE, email client, spreadsheets, etc.

I want a dual core laptop. A decent graphics card would be nice but not a requirement.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I should look to buy other than Dell? Alienware is too expensive.

You ask "Where to look" and then mention brand names instead of stores. The two can be different, you know. ;) That's like saying "I want to buy bread. Is Georgia a good place to look?"

I've used all the name brand laptops thru my place of employment over the past...13 years. Some were great and some were duds.

5 months ago, I purchased an Acer 4402 WLMI (not sure on the letters, but the numbers are correct) from Newegg. For what I got, for that price, I got a good deal IMO.

I've used it non stop since then, no probs. It came with a 1 year warranty. For another $110, I extended it to 3 years, no deductible. I'm covered. These days,
you don't need to purchase a "major brand" laptop to get your money's worth. Another company that comes to mind is ABS. Check them out.

depends. i'll take the flames and say that you might wanna look at the MacBook Pro. It has a core duo, ATI x1600 graphics, and can run windows plus OS X. although i assume by the "Alienware is too expensive" part you said, you are on a limited budget. I do know that ACER has some good laptops. look at pcmag.com for reviews. they are a good source. anyway, update when you get whatever you get.
