There is a local place that does them for about 39 cents per pic. We don't know how good they really all, but they have a good reputation around here (esp for non digital prints).

I have heard that Costco and online sites are good for digital, but I dont have any experience with that.

We want them to last and to be well done, so we are willing to pay the 39 if its better, but do you guys have any recommendations?

Also,

These are mostly 5 MP photos off a Cool pix 5200. Some are 3 MP.

A re the 3 MP enough for 4x6?

5200 specs
? 2592 x 1944 (5M)
? 2048 x 1536 (3M)
? 1600 x 1200 (2M)
? 1024 x 768 (PC)

I've actually read that walmart does pretty good with Digital, but I haven't viewed any results firsthand.

The only things to remember is that the pictures will only look as good as the camera allowed and that if your pictures are not sized to the photo size then some dumb photo lab guy might just do a poor job of cropping.

Unless you need them right away, why not give a few places a test run. 200 pictures is going to be a bit costly no matter where it is done, so why don't you have 2 dollars worth of photos done at a few different places and see how you like the results?

Good advice. Don't try to skimp out and try to get different pictures done, get the same ones. 😀 I just had to say it, although it seems obvious.

I try to stay away from those little kiosks to print my photos, but other then that, I don't have much more advice

Kinko's?

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Kinkos SUCKS for prints of photos. REAL BAD. They are most expensive of all places to do it and they just send you to one of those "computers in a big wooden display box" and make you do the work.

ok and lastly, since digital is not full-frame 35mm, is it better to ask for it to be fit to the left and right of the print, or should we let them leave a small border on it?

I've ordered through PhotoWorks and Shutterfly, and I was pleased with the results from both.

And if you get invited by someone to Shutterfly, your first 15 prints are free. (PM me if you'd like an invitation.)

i've gotten a ton of pictures done from walmart. The price is good and the quality was fine with me. I have 4 pictures currently hanging in my room that are printed in 8x10 format and they look great. Granted the camera is a 4.0 megapixel. the colors are very nice, nothing too hot or cold. Im perfectly content with their service. plus if something is messed up, you can send them back and they will fix the pics or refund the $.

Probably best to get the whole frame than to risk having an important part cropped off. But Shutterfly (and maybe other sites too) has a nice tool where you can go picture-by-picture and specifically select the area that will be cropped depending on your print size - or you can select the whole frame with a border.

i went to walgreens for 170 4x6s, all 2 mp jobs, cost about $0.20 each. came out pretty well. it's on good fuji crystal archive paper.
