Best place to pick up a Win XP 32-bit OS?

Newegg won't sell them anymore and Amazon seems to be either extremely cheap (with no indication if it's 32 or 64) or extremely expensive.

I'm just looking to dual boot on a partitioned HDD so I can use XP to run older games.

Probably the cheapest way to get it is ebay.

If you have an OEM machine, then you may be in luck. For example, an old Dell laptop will have the activation code stuck to the bottom and the (matching) Dell XP version media you should be able to find cheap.

i bought windows xp on ebay some of them activate okay but some dont so it's good that windows xp is really cheap. i have always had dell because very good.

Is there any way to tell whether it's 32 or 64 when the seller doesn't specify? The game I'm trying to run needs XP and cannot be run from a 64 bit system.

64bit xp barely existed. I'd expect it to be specifically noted if it were 64bit because it would be unusual, and possibly more desirable(more money) for the right person.

Good Lord, someone wanting to buy a copy of Windows XP in 2017? I would check GOG.com for newer versions of those games that will work on current versions of Windows.

Or you could run Linux and run those old games using Wine as I had some good luck doing that before.

Thanks, I've checked into it, but apparently it's a poorly-coded game (according to many reviews from people trying to run it on newer systems). It seems the best way to get this to work is to partition the HDD and dual-boot XP.

If anyone's wondering, the game in question is Star Wars Episode 1 Racer.

Bummer, I thought this could help you with that.

I have some spare XP licences that you won't have any activation difficulties with.
I'd greatly appreciate this. So long as it would work just do dual-boot and install/run games from.

Also, I've never done anything like this, so if you have any advice/tips for doing this, that would also be greatly appreciated.

if you wanna run games, i believe you are much better on the 64 version. If you need it as an everyday OS, then not. Because drivers for stuff, like printers, are next to impossible to find.

The game I'm trying to run is not compatible with 64-bit systems - hence the reason why I want a 32-bit system.
