Best place to get some clothes altered

Mill

Lifer
I have a few pair of pants that need the length hemmed, and then I have a few pair of pants that I need to have the waist made smaller on. I also have one pair of pants that has the button placed WAY too far to one side and it causes the pants to wear weird and the waste to be too small. I seriously have about 6 pairs of pants that need to be altered. I don't think my current cleaners does alterations, but I know of some around here...

Ideas other than a cleaners? I'd ask my grandmother to do it, but I feel bad about that.

Although i can't tell you an exact place, I'd like to say that make sure that wherever you go does their alterations on-site. A lot of cleaners and places offer tailoring, but they ship your clothes out to some tailor; places like that usually have an extremely large volume and aren't as good. Same goes for things like shoe repairs.

Plus, if your stuff is being shipped or dropped off there is a higher risk they might lose them.

dry cleaners will work for the hemming of the pants. If you get the feeling they can't do the waist correctly, then try any suit store at your local mall. they usually have in house tailors. Burlington coat factory even has a tailor in the store usually.

check the yellow pages...I'd personally take it to a dedicated tailor if I didn't have the alterations done at the POS.

Check the dep't stores at the mall...since you didnt' purchase it there, there will be a fee, but it's still worth it knowing you get a decent tailor. I hope.

Ah, I didn't think of that. That's not a bad idea at all. I prefer the "new" cuts when it comes to hemming instead of the old lady one look fits all approach.
