Best place to get cheap airline tickets online?

I believe Orbitz and Cheaptickets belong to the same parent company. I've used Orbitz before for domestic and they were pretty good. Yahoo's Farechase and Kayak.com lists the prices of these online travel agency, so that's another source you can take a look at.

As far as international flights, I've found talking to a travel agent usually yields better prices. For example, I booked tickets through a local travel agent from AUS to TPE that were $200 cheaper than from Farechase.

I have found, generally speaking, that it is cheaper to get the tickets through the actual airline website. Screw the other sites...

You use those 3rd party websites to find the cheapest airline. Then you go to the airline website direct and buy the tickets themselves. Why pay extra fees for a 3rd party?

All of the third party sites use the same search engines, they just display the results differently. I use Orbitz to find the best deal and than book directly on the airlines website. If I'm flying internationally I'll look a little harder, like Sidestep etc.

This is true. They are all competing against expedia, travelocity, etc... and every time i check, its usually cheaper directly through the airline.

The interfaces on kayak and sidestep are my absolute favorite!!!!!!

I've found good deals on Hotwire too, but they don't tell you which airline and flight you're getting until you order, just the dates of the flights.
