Well, Wallymart is probably cheapest on the daily prices, but watch the ads. AutoZone and Pep Boys and such have case specials all the time where good oil is dirt cheap.

I used to buy recycled oil by the gallon, back when I had a car with a horrible oil leak. That stuff is worthless, but since it pretty much just poured right back out, it was constantly being refreshed. ;)

Don't get a fram filter. They are absolute crap. I go to Napa and get Napa Gold filters and Valvoline oil.

If you take your woman with you, you can get a complete oil change at Walmart for around $12 on lady's day. I'm normally cheap, but $12 saves me the time of doing it and getting myself covered in oil.

What, do you use the oil to bathe in? I change mine every time, and I only get oil on my hands. Even then, it isn't very much, and its really easy to clean up.

Translation:

I am uncertain. Perhaps Big Lots has motor oil?

Since when? I always thought they were the biggest names in filters.

Got any proof to back that up?

Being the biggest doesn't mean the best... look at AOL. ;)
Personally I use Mobil 1 oil and either Mobil 1 or Mitsubishi filters.

I was exagerating a bit. I just don't like changing oil myself and would rather pay $15 to get it changed.

I'll second the auto parts store sales. My old man stock piles that stuff when it goes on sale.

I heard that fram was terrible, but had been using them. So, I cut one open and compared it with a Champ, Mobil 1, and Napa Gold. The filters in the Mobil 1 and Napa filters were the only two that looked like they would last more than 1000 miles. Since Napa was cheaper, that's what I started using.

For the lazy, some of the studies indicate that Pennzoil and Quaker State brand Filters are Frams with a different paint job, so avoid them.

If you go to Walmart, in addition to Tech2000 and Mobil 1, they also sell Motorcraft filters. Motorcraft filters should also be fine.
