I need to get a black suit for a wedding and I don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a designer suit, but then again i dont want a cheap suit. Any experiences at stores like the ones in the list above? And how much you paid.

Thanks!

*UPDATE*
I got a Calvin Klein suit separate Jacket before sale 375 Pants 150 before sale...I got it for 302.10 out the door? a good deal?

Men's Warehouse has some nice stuff and not too badly priced.

Edit:

If you have a Nordstrom Rack near you go there.

I just bought one for my husband at JCPenney's. Very reasonably priced, and good quality. 'Course the salesman really put it over the top - he really knew his stuff.

Mens' warehouse is annoying. Their salesman push you so much. I want to hit them with a shovel.

Check a Sunday's paper in your area and look around for sales.

Sometimes they have good deals at Men's Warehouse and S&K....but I've seen pricey stuff there too. JC Penny usually has a decent stock and usually carries some low-end suits that will probably fit you best. if you can't find what you need elsewhere.

get a black 3 button worsted wool from S & K (haven't been there since they were T & C)...

should be able to get out there for around $150-$200...

edit: you might get lucky and find one on the rack for $99 though...

The quality of Men's Wearhouse suits is not really that great. Just feel the material and you'll see what I mean. Find an Off 5th in your area. You should be able to find some nice thread at decent prices.

now is it worth spending like 250-300 for some nice thread? or 175-200 for a suit at a discount place? I know you can get hugo boss and other nice makers at like off the 5th and macy's and nordstrom, but is it worth it? I have a hugo boss and it is lighter and it has nicer material...it is my birthday on saturday and maybe i should splurge and get a nice suit...or save the cash and get me a digital rebel xt!

If you just need a suit, Men's Warehouse or any department store should have an OK selection. Nordstrom is usually a little pricier/nicer. Brigden is gonna tell you to shell out 500+ but if you're just gonna go to a wedding and the ocassional formal event then thats definitely not necessary.

Try an outlet store like Saks Off 5th or Nordstrom Rack. The quality is MUCH better!

JC Penney has very good suits. They are made out of excellent material and fit quite well. I recommend the "classic", which I purchased last year for $100. Unbeatable, IMO.
