Do they actually offer such fares? What school are you going to check out?

I don't know of any airline that offers a "student" fare. Just check travelocity and the like. Oh, you'll usually get the best fare if you can travel either a) on a Tuesday/Wednesday or b) if you are staying over an entire weekend. Also make the reservation about 4 weeks in advance and you'll generally get decent prices. Keep in mind that the cosest airport maynot have the best price. If there is another airport closeby and someone can pick you up, check out the prices there as well.

Hope this helps.

I've never really seen any student fares before. However, if you're looking for cheap tickets, usually Southwest, JetBlue, or Northwest will have the cheapest fares. I don't recommend Orbitz and Travelocity mainly because they usually charge you booking fees, whereas the airlines often have no booking fees if you go through their web site. Make sure you read up on their rules for unaccompanied minors as well.

Same question - where are you going to check out?
