Best place to find out about local auto auctions?

also, aren't there different types of auctions?

like dealer only auctions, etc?

i've done some research on the web and the first 10 or so sites i hit wanted money for the list...i just can't see paying for it when i'm sure the info is available to the general public somewhere for nothing
