I've been unemployed for a while and so far I'm having a hardtime finding a new job. Since I really don't have much experience job hunting any sugguestions?

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 4 years of experience as an NT administrator. My certs are MCP, MCSE and MCDBA. Also currently attending grad school for my Masters in computer information systems. I tried my luck with headhunter, net-temps, monster and nytimes but no luck. Anyone want to offer me some tips and suggestions?

Ok...you may not like this answer cause it sounds like you've already been in the workforce, but hear me out. Check the university you're attending and see what job placement services THEY have to offer. Most universities will have internships that they offer. The trick is to get on one of those and then see what they would offer to keep you on... That's how most of my friends got in the positions they're in.

To honestly get a good job these days, you MUST know someone. It's virtually impossible to get a job on your own without networking and knowing plenty of people to help you out. It seems there is always someone younger than you with the same experience/education...especially in computers and no one wants to pay what they used to. Just hang in there and you'll find something, but the internship is a way you can get into a company to meet people in a company/field.... That's the key.

the fiscal year for gov't agencies ends at the end of September. So by November, budgets should be approved and agencies will probably be hiring. working for the gov't is great :) I'd try your luck there.

Hit all the on-line boards.

Also, consider the option of relocating.

Given your NYC location, use the net to check online employment in papers of other areas that you might consider.
