I am going to be building a new linux box. The system will be up 24/7 and will be used as a game server. I want a quality case that will give me lots of room to upgrade (additional harddrices). I like the Antec/Antec clone cases, but was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a deal on the SX10XX series cases. I realize there are similar models - can someone point me in the direction of a online reatiler or B/M that sells these.

If there is a better case for this can someone point me the right direction.

i learned something interesting a few weeks ago while talking to a case rep for a company called uneec at a hardware open house. apparently they sell cases to antec, so i guess antec doesn't actually make their own cases, they just rebadge. it didn't occur to me at the time to ask if they also sell cases to cheiftec and some of the other "antec" clones. kinda makes you wonder if it's not the same case.

I just ordered a similar case from Directron. Good ratings on Resellers Ratings. i wouldn't buy online with out checking Resellers Ratings.

Actually Chemming makes these cases and sells them to alot of resellers. Antec, Chieftec, Directron, Thermaltake, Chenboro, etc. They are great cases, 3 so far and possibly going to get 1 or 2 more, never know when the urge strikes.

I got my Chieftec case from Directron, and they shipped it promptly. Good service there, and I love my Chieftec :)

now i am a little confused... what exactly is the difference between the Antec Performance II Series and the Antec Performance Plus Series. the only noticable difference is the Power supply. Am I missing something obvious?

I like the front mounted USB/Firewire ports, can similar cases be found from any of the following or are these mod's unique to the Antec Line of cases.
Chemming
Chieftec
Directron
Thermaltake
Chenboro

I was going to buy from them too.. but, it just all seems too fishy and the ratings aren't very good.

From BuyXtremeGear:

Cybertec 1030 Case with Tubolink 420 Watt Power supply (CTW-420)

From Newegg:

CHIEFTEC Server Chasis (Workstation Tower) Model DX-01WD-420W; Turbo Link Power Supply Front Accessible (CWT-420): 4 x 5.25", 2 x 3.5", Internal: 4 x 3.5". Power Supply:(P4) 420 watts Turbo Link 420 ATX 12V- w/2 Case Fan Compare to Antec SX1040

Either they can't type or theres something going on. Does anyone know for sure that these are the same cases?

Fishy? Hmmm...I've ordered two cases from them in the last 3 weeks and both shipped immediately and with no problems...YMMV.

The difference between II and plus is primarily the power supply. However the Plus series is currently only continuing with the AMG color.

Just want to get some opinions, but would you guys rather buy the chieftec dragon with 420 turbolink PSU or the antec 1030 with their 300W PSU?

I picked mine up at Buyxtremegear.com

Tried to call them two times and no answer on the phone, they also dont reply to emails, and the 'support' email address bounced back to me, they have the ibm black chieftec case for $35 w/o ps, but without phone support, i am hesitated to deal with them.

This might be to late, but as mentioned in this thread in the Hot Deals forum...

antec sx1035b w/ 350w antec smartpower psu - 79.99 after IR/MIR

You can get the Antec SX1035B from CompUSA for $80. There is a $20 instant rebate and $20 MIR but you have to buy it today to qualify for the rebate.

I printed out the CompUSA page and took it to Staples for a price match. Got it for $77 plus tax out the door without having to hassle with the MIR. :D

Even if you get this late you still might be able to get a price match from Staples....the cashier didn't seem to pay much attention to the dates...she just verified the price and the model number.
