Agreed on the kem cards - I love them, but some of the people I play with hate them.

I prefer Copag to Kem myself.

eBay. Some higher quality than others though. Should be dirt cheap by now as everyone and their mom has the same sets.

The two things I am looking for are:

1) 11.5 grams
2) Design pattern I like

Am I missing something?

[EDIT]
3) Correct colour denominations
[/EDIT]

Copag all the way!!

some nice 14g tri color sets on ebay. I got mine off ebay, if you like the Paulson look check out nexxgen or nexgen im not sure as how to spell it.

What's the difference?

Different sets have different textures - matte/gloss finish, different feel. My set of 500 are kind of rough textured and not that easy to shuffle, whereas my cousins (from eBay also) are smooth and easy to shuffle. They're all about the same for home poker games anyway.

These are 3 times the price of regular chips. I'm sure they're good, but I'm also sure they are out of my price range 🙂

I've been wanting to get some custom chips. I remember being sent a link for a small-order custom chip maker that had somewhat reasonable prices, but cant seem to find it again with Google... everyone's either sky high pricewaise or has minimum orders of 100,000 😛

Probably 1000 chips
With correct denominations and ideally the values printed on the chip.
Probably 11.5 grams.

Chipco.com

They supply the majority of casinos in Vegas, and they're quite nice. They're not cheap, but they'll last forever. They can work with you as far as designs go.

The anandtech of poker chips.

P.S. For some great Kem or Copag alternatives, try Dal Negro. They have by far the most paper-like feel of all the synthetic cards I have tried to date.

FWIW, Copag cards are good for home use but they can not stand up to abuse long term.

I was at the WSOP this year and played in an event (plus cash games) at the Rio. They use nothing but Copaq setups and they were ALL f'ed up.

I use Copags for my home games and tourneys and they are great for personal use.
