I am looking for a 50pk or a 100pk. I havn't ever bought media online before and don't know which to buy. If someone has burned with a lot of a particular brand I would like to hear from you. Or if you know of a hot deal on a good brand that would be appreciated.

Just keep your eye on Best Buy/Staples/Office Depot adds. Every other week or so they'll have DVD media going for under $.50 a disk.

Two weeks ago Best Buy had a 100 pack of Fujifilm DVD+R's for $50 with a $10 rebate. $.40 a disk isn't too bad.

What brand(s) did you settle on, and why? I've got to get a few CD-R and DVD+R. Taiyo Yuden looks like a safe bet.

My order is in:No state & local tax almost covers shipping, and I get a known good quality media that should save me on coasters and last for decades. Don't have to wait for a sale, or send away for rebates either.

I bought the budget stuff a few times. My son's burner made a few coasters from one particular brand, that our other burners managed just fine. Now, I'm starting to wonder if my picture backups are going to last through the years. If these budget brands deteriorate, the few cents I save now won't mean squat when I can't read the discs in the future.

A cyberbuddy just sent me a DVD burner that uses only +R disks and since I don't need one and don't want to offend him I thought I would just order some and play for a while.

I found SuperMediaStore.com recently. I haven't made a purchase yet. I was looking for 'printable' CD and DVD media for my new Epson R200 Photo Printer which prints directly on media so no paper label is needed.

Just two different specs. Some players play only - or +, but most modern players play both. Most PS2's tend to play - better. Newer PS2's will do both.

Which format are prerecorded DVDs?

Try Rima.com, best customer service imo. Got some Prodisc 8x's from there 100 pack for 39.99, shipping is not too outrageous either.

I think they're -ROM, which is the native super-compatible spec of even the oldest DVD players. Some newer burners will allow a + to be "booktyped" as -ROM, so that you can have the dvd player think that your + is a -ROM, in essence giving the ultimate in compatibility. At least this is what I've gathered over the past couple of days. My first DVD burner arrives in the mail tomorrow or the next day (Nec 3500A).

Agreed, great prices too, Prodisc is prob some of the better media for the price, I love them because their printable media is awsome and cheap.
